When we get to passengers, which most of the time we strongly dislike because we get bothered, we have our own agenda! It's normally SLEEP!
Unfortunately, there are times were the company has to reposition the crew. Crew Support has no reference to time so this could be early in the morning after having a long day the previous day and getting little rest, late at night after flying all day that same day or just right smack dab in the middle of our day. All of it is exhausting. When we get the chance to be passengers leave us alone.
Clues that we don't want to talk:
- We have our heads shoved in a book
- We have earplugs, headphones, etc shoved into our ears
- We're all cuddled up next to that hard surface wall, covering our heads with our coats trying to block out the cabin light to sleep
- OUR EYES ARE CLOSED (don't wake us up when the beverage cart comes around!)
If there are two seats open let us have first pick. This maximizes the rest that we can get and least interruptions from a seat companion. If we ask for the window, let us have it. This way you don't have to wake us up everytime you have to go to the bathroom and we're simply out of your way. Additionally, don't complain to us about your travel experience, how much your ticket costs, if you can have a buddy pass, what's going on with the airline industry, etc. We don't care, except that we have to sit next to you for the duration of our flight. Instead, say something positive! We always hear the crappy stuff. We like to hear the good stuff too!
