I had one of those moments today. Really, and of all places, my Weight Watcher's meeting! Today was a mile marker for me. I have officially by their scale lost my first 5%, aka 8 lbs, aka 1 medicine ball. Nothing gives you more of a natural high than meeting a goal like that and it was just in 3 weeks. That means I ma 1/3rd of the way to my goal of 24 pounds. That 24 pounds puts me at the high end of my healthy weight zone for my height and age. But regardless, I feel great and am extremely proud of myself!
I went to my meeting this week here in Austin, although I have been weighing in on Sundays in Salt Lake City. She asked if I wanted the recognition at this meeting or if I wanted to wait until SLC. I chose this one since the next couple of weeks I will be weighing in here in Austin. Once I was recognized for losing my first 5% they inquired what I had done over the week. One simple thing:
"For me I have worked on the same goal since rejoining WW. As a flight attendant, it's difficult to get 3 meals in one day. I was lucky to get two and even luckier if they were at normal meal times. Healthy, most likely they weren't. I've learned that I have to take time out for me, even if it's just 5 minutes. From a customer service point of view, probably not the best but I have to take care of me in order to take care of the passengers."
This is soo true. I didn't realize it or believe it until I said it out loud. I have to make time for me. Because when I start respecting what I need to do for myself, it will set the example that others need to respect it too. I certainly need to work on this simply because I'm always worrying about what everyone else needs or wants and put my self last so many times.
So now I am on my way to next 5%. When I meet that I will have lost 16 pounds. That is HUGE! I can already tell a difference in the way that my clothes fit. My pants are loose and I am constantly pulling them up. Funny thing: Now I'm constantly pulling them up rather that having to jump up and down and wiggle around to get them up! HA!
